The 3 Bells are a brass trio from Bexleyheath in Kent, founded by Thomas Rudd and Aled Smith. The members arrange and perform popular music from 1800-2010 with the majority of their repertoire being comical brass covers of songs currently in the charts. Repertoire ranges from Classical and Trad Jazz to Pop and Rock! During the winter of 2009 Trumpet player Tom Rudd and Trombone player Alex (Aled) Smith were frustrated by the limited repertoire for brass instruments. They decided that the majority of the nation were no longer interested in Beethoven and Mozart and more.......well..........Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Madness and many many more. This is when they began wasting countless hours of their lives in front of a computer screen arranging these pieces for trio. However they still enjoy performing trad jazz classics from composers such as Kenny Ball and Louis Armstrong. Tuba players are hard to pin down (with two currently in education and a third in full time work) therefore it has not possible to have just one. So The 3 Bells thought - why have one when you can have three?!? With this format we hope to be able to cater for any event with availability of players being that much wider. With music being released every day and a difference in personal tastes, the band work hard to keep their repertoire up to date.
